Sehr geehrter Herr Abteilungsleiter, ich bitte vielmals um Entschuldigung für meine heutige Verspätung. Auf meinem Weg zur Arbeit blockierte eine riesige Herde Schafe die große Kreuzung. Die Tiere waren alle ausgewachsen und wirkten auf der Fahrbahn sehr lebendig. Eine Polizeistreife auf Patrouille regelte zwar den Verkehr, aber ich kam einfach nicht schnell weg. Ich trat sofort fest auf die Bremse, als die Jagd der Hunde nach den Schafen begann. Der Hirte wirkte sehr kompetent, doch die Tiere bewegten sich nur im Schneckentempo. Bereits am Vortag bereitete ich alle meine Unterlagen vor, doch heute hielt mich dieser Vorfall leider auf. Deshalb musste ich den Termin für das monatliche Treffen kurzfristig verschieben. Ich hoffe, wir können unsere Besprechung jetzt produktiv fortsetzen.

Dear Mr. Department Head, I apologize very much for my lateness today. On my way to work, a massive flock of sheep blocked the large intersection. The animals were all full-grown and appeared very lively on the roadway. A police patrol regulated the traffic, but I simply could not get away quickly. I immediately stepped hard on the brake when the dogs' hunt for the sheep began. The shepherd seemed very competent, but the animals moved only at a snail's pace. I already prepared all my documents the day before, but today this incident unfortunately held me up. Therefore, I had to postpone the date for the monthly meeting on short notice. I hope we can continue our meeting productively now.
