Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren, ich schreibe Ihnen heute bezüglich eines wichtigen Anliegens, das derzeit unter den Studierenden unserer Stadt kursiert. Der Bürgermeister soll laut verschiedenen Berichten in den sozialen Medien versprochen haben, exklusive kostenlose Wochenendtickets für den Nahverkehr einzuführen. Viele Bürger sind jedoch skeptisch, ob ein solcher Überschuss im Haushalt tatsächlich zur Verfügung steht. In Hinblick auf die aktuelle Knappheit finanzieller Mittel in anderen Bereichen, wie etwa der Wasserversorgung, erscheint dieses Versprechen fast wie eine Provokation. Der Bürgermeister will von diesen Zusagen nun nichts mehr wissen, obwohl die Handelskammer bereits ihre Zustimmung signalisiert hatte. Es gibt bereits Stimmen, die gegen diese mögliche Bevorzugung Einspruch erheben wollen. Letztendlich fordern wir als Bürger, dass die Stadtverwaltung Rechenschaft über diese Pläne ablegt. Wir erwarten, dass die Neutralität der Verwaltung gewahrt bleibt und keine leeren Versprechungen gemacht werden. Es kann nicht sein, dass solche Maßnahmen ohne die Mithilfe der zuständigen Gremien einfach angeordnet werden. Falls es sich nur um ein Gerücht handelt, sollte dies schnellstmöglich klargestellt werden, um eine feindliche Stimmung zu vermeiden. In Zeiten globaler Krisen ist Solidarität wichtig, aber wir müssen uns an die geltende Norm halten. Wir bitten Sie daher um eine offizielle Stellungnahme zu diesem Thema.

Dear Sir or Madam, I am writing to you today regarding an important concern that is currently circulating among the students of our city. According to various reports on social media, the mayor is said to have promised to introduce exclusive free weekend tickets for local transport. However, many citizens are skeptical as to whether such a budget surplus is actually available. In view of the current scarcity of financial resources in other areas, such as the water supply, this promise appears almost like a provocation. The mayor now claims to know nothing about these pledges, even though the Chamber of Commerce had already signaled its approval. There are already voices wishing to lodge an objection against this possible favoritism. Ultimately, as citizens, we demand that the city administration give an account of these plans. We expect the administration's neutrality to be maintained and that no empty promises are made. It cannot be that such measures are simply ordered without the assistance of the responsible committees. If it is only a rumor, this should be clarified as soon as possible to avoid a hostile atmosphere. In times of global crises, solidarity is important, but we must adhere to the prevailing norm. We therefore ask you for an official statement on this matter.
