Die Anerkennung des E-Sports als offizielle Sportart ist ja längst überfällig, doch die bürokratische Weigerung der Behörden gleicht fast einem Todesurteil für die Planung internationaler Turniere. Einem zuständigen Staatsminister obliegt hierbei die dringliche Prüfung, ob die Vergabe von Sportler-Visa durch die bloße Einstufung als reines Unterhaltungsspiel weiterhin verhindert werden darf. Bei einer sachlichen Gegenüberstellung von traditionellem Sport und digitalem Wettkampf wird oft die körperliche Ertüchtigung als oberste Maxime angeführt, was jedoch die heutige Realität völlig verkennt. In Gesprächen mit einem engagierten Bundestagsabgeordneten wurde deutlich, dass die enorme mediale Wirkung der Branche eben nicht mehr ignoriert werden kann. Ein Vorstandsmitglied des E-Sport-Bundes betonte, dass die Achtung der Menschenwürde sowie der entschiedene Kampf gegen Sexismus und jeden Rassist innerhalb der Community oberste Priorität haben müssen. Es ist halt schlicht eine Frage der Fairness, dass Mitstreiter aus aller Welt ohne die bürokratische Nötigung komplizierter Einreiseverfahren an Wettkämpfen teilnehmen können. Trotz mancher negativer Vorkommnisse in Online-Foren, die bisweilen von unreifen Fanboys dominiert werden, bleibt der Kern der Bewegung zutiefst freiheitlich gesinnt. Sogar die Staatsgewalt muss anerkennen, dass die Besteuerung der Preisgelder bereits konsequent erfolgt, während die soziale Absicherung der Akteure noch hinterherhinkt. Die Weigerung des olympischen Präsidiums, Gaming als gleichberechtigt anzuerkennen, empfinden viele Experten als eine faktische Enteignung der kulturellen Relevanz dieser Jugendkultur. Während Teile der konservativen Oberschicht früher auf Videospiele wie auf eine gefährliche Droge à la Heroin herabblickten, ist die gesellschaftliche Akzeptanz heute doch merklich gewachsen. Es geht den Verbänden nicht um eine gewaltsame Machtübernahme des Sportsektors, sondern um die schlichte rechtliche Gleichstellung. Sollten innerhalb der Szene Straftaten wie Untreue oder die Verbreitung hasserfüllter Inhalte durch einen Rechtsextremist bekannt werden, muss das Präsidium Lizenzen sofort beschlagnahmen. Man sollte die alten, verstaubten Vorurteile endlich beisetzen, damit die deutsche Talentlandschaft nicht für ihren Mangel an Modernisierungswillen büssen muss.

The recognition of eSports as an official sport is long overdue, yet the bureaucratic refusal of the authorities is almost like a death sentence for the planning of international tournaments. A responsible state minister is tasked with the urgent examination of whether the issuance of athlete visas may continue to be prevented by merely classifying it as a pure entertainment game. In a factual comparison between traditional sport and digital competition, physical exercise is often cited as the highest maxim, which, however, completely misjudges today's reality. In discussions with a dedicated member of parliament, it became clear that the enormous media impact of the industry simply can no longer be ignored. A board member of the E-Sports Association emphasized that respect for human dignity and the decisive fight against sexism and any racists within the community must have top priority. It is simply a matter of fairness that fellow campaigners from all over the world can participate in competitions without the bureaucratic coercion of complicated entry procedures. Despite some negative occurrences in online forums, which are occasionally dominated by immature fanboys, the core of the movement remains deeply liberal-minded. Even the state authority must acknowledge that the taxation of prize money is already consistently carried out, while the social security of the actors still lags behind. The refusal of the Olympic presidium to recognize gaming as equal is felt by many experts to be a factual expropriation of the cultural relevance of this youth culture. While parts of the conservative upper class previously looked down on video games as they would a dangerous drug like heroin, social acceptance has nonetheless grown noticeably today. The associations are not concerned with a violent takeover of the sports sector, but with simple legal equality. Should criminal offenses such as breach of trust or the dissemination of hateful content by a right-wing extremist become known within the scene, the presidium must immediately confiscate licenses. One should finally bury the old, dusty prejudices so that the German talent landscape does not have to pay for its lack of will to modernize.
