Lieber Freund, danke für die Einladung zu deiner Feier, aber ich kann am Sonntagabend leider nicht kommen. Ich muss plötzlich arbeiten, weil mein Chef im Büro meine Hilfe braucht. Das macht mich traurig, denn ich wollte diesen schönen Feiertag mit dir verbringen. Bitte um Verzeihung für meine späte Absage. Ich wünsche dir viel Freude beim Fest und hoffe, dass ihr viele Kerzen anzündet. Hoffentlich sehen wir uns bald nach meiner Schicht!

Dear friend, thank you for the invitation to your celebration, but unfortunately I cannot come on Sunday evening. I suddenly have to work because my boss needs my help at the office. This makes me sad, because I wanted to spend this beautiful holiday with you. Please forgive my late cancellation. I wish you much joy at the festival and hope that you light many candles. Hopefully we will see each other soon after my shift!
